This inaugural
release of Aida Red Wine is an expression of the unique terroir
of Aida Vineyard. The rocky soils at Aida are reminiscent
of those seen in the southern Rhone Valley of France. The
microclimate is hot and dry, resulting in wines of exceptional
intensity and fruit forward character. The Red Wine is a blend
of 60% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot.
Full and balanced, with fresh cherry notes, Aida Red Wine
is underscored by a mineral character unique to this vineyard
site.
Reviews:
:Stephen
Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Good
bright medium ruby. Aromas of redcurrant syrup, tobacco, minerals
and smoked nuts. Full and harmonious in the mouth, with moderate
definition and distinctly warm flavors. Finishes with dusty,
slightly edgy tannins that grew with aeration.”
Robert
Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate "The 2000 Proprietary
Red (an 800 case blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon),
made before Melka was fully in charge, is a succulent, straightforward,
deep purple-colored offering with plenty of herb and tobacco-tinged
Cabernet fruit intertwined with chocolaty Merlot. It is sweet
on the attack and succulent, with excellent follow through.
It will drink well for 5-10 years."
